Cacao bowl

This bowl was made by señora Emerenciana, an artisan from Oaxaca. The clay was collected from the hills of Tlapazola, giving each bowl its earthy color. The bowls are shaped by hand without a potter’s wheel, dried under the sun, and then fired in a traditional open-air kiln. The result is a unique, unglazed piece that’s completely non-toxic and safe for everyday use. What’s special about this kind of pottery is that it can be used directly over an open flame or on the stovetop.
